The Christmas Boat Parade has been delighting and entertaining New Smyrna Beach and Edgewater residents and visitors alike for 36 years and counting! Boats of every shape and size are draped in holiday finery and lined up as far as the eye can see, lights sparkle on the water like Christmas magic and the sounds of Christmas music fills the air.
Hosted by the Anglers Yacht Club, the 36th Annual Southeast Volusia Holiday Boat Parade is a festive, one-of-a-kind water town event at which boaters make their way down our majestic waterways in celebration of the holiday and in hopes of winning a parade day prize…and there are a boatload of $2,500 in cash and prizes to be had! Best overall will win $500 and $250 each will go to best music, best pontoon/deck boat, best sailboat, best 19-foot boat and under (which is just begging for a Stayput Anchor System, by the way!), best 20 to 29-foot boat, best 30 to 39-foot boat, best 40 to 49-foot boat and best 50+ foot boat.
There’s fun to be had by all and you can witness this joyous bit of seasonal magic for yourself by picking a good spot and perching along the Christmas Boat Parade route, which begins at 6 p.m. on December 9th at Menards-May Park (near marker 53) in Edgewater and travels along its traditional parade route (up the Intercoastal Waterway to the North Causeway in New Smyrna Beach and Riverside Park for judging. Winners are announced on VHF channel 68 minutes after passing the judges.
